Propane Tank Preparedness

Although we hear more about wildfires being fueled by dry weather conditions and unkept brush, propane is a common fuel to fires in rural areas. The best way to prepare for a fire is to do it in advance and make sure your propane tanks are fire ready by:

  1. Keeping a 10 ft. radius around your propane tanks clear of anything that may be used as fuel for a fire

  2. Ensuring that the tank is up off the ground and properly installed on blocks

  3. Scalp (cut the grass/weeds closely) the area around your tank exposing bare ground
